What is an Emergency Electrician?
An emergency electrician is a qualified and licensed electrician who is available to visit after hours to correct your electrical emergency.
Who do I call in an electrical emergency?
Many electricians and electrical businesses have a 24 hour electrician. At DJD Electrics we have an electrician on call around the clock, including weekends, public holidays and in the middle of the night. They are ready to arrive at your Geelong or Melbourne business or residence to sort out your electrical emergency.
All our electricians have been called out to a variety of electrical emergencies and have all the tools and materials in their vehicles to get you up and running.
When to call an emergency electrician
Call an emergency electrician for any of the following reasons:
- Sparks or burning smells
- Smoke alarms won’t stop sounding
- No lights
- No power
- No hot water (if your hot water system runs on electricity)
What is an electrical emergency?
These are the electrical emergencies we have been called out to as emergency electricians:
- Loss of Power
- Smoke Alarms
- Burnt out Mains Switches
- Water in Switchboards
- Collapsed Ceilings Due to Water Damage
- Loss of Hot Water
I Have No Lights and/or Power
This can be due to a variety of reasons. Most commonly it is due to tripped safety switches caused by faulty appliances, moisture or storm damage. It is possible to lose lights but still have power and vice versa, depending on the set up of your switchboard. We will come out and restore power to your home or business, followed up by identifying the fault if and when it is necessary.
My Smoke Alarms Won't Stop:
We all know how stressful it is when the smoke alarm sounds, even when there isn’t a fire! This is one of the most common reason for a 24 hour electrician to be called out. Most commonly the fault is due to an out of date alarm which needs to be replaced.
Electrical Anecdote
"We were called out one night as several residences in one of the Retirement Villages we service had power out. A switchboard pillar is a pillar on the street supplying power to the houses. In this instance it had blown up due to a buildup of moisture. We spent several hours in the night repairing it enough to restore power for the residents. We later returned to replace all the spare parts necessary to reconstruct it."
